FIFER DESIGN STUDIO NEWS
February, 2010

Do you know where your industry is heading?

According to US Bureau and Labor Statistics, job growth for dentists is projected to grow by 16% through 2018, which, on an average, makes it the fastest growing occupation. The demand for dental services is also expected to continue to rise. 2 reasons reflect the increased demand for dental care: the US population is growing, and the elderly segment of the population is growing faster. These 2 indicators project high demand for dental care.

It is expected that the baby-boom generation will need intricate dental work due to the fact that they are retaining their teeth longer than their predecessors. This increase in demand coupled with recent expansion of insurance coverage, will likely result in higher demand for dental care.

This trend is expected to continue as new technologies allow these procedures to take less time and be much less invasive.

Here is more good news!

You should be gaining productivity from new technology, as well as delegating more tasks to dental hygienists and assistants, which will allow you to perform more work than you have in the past, which will, in turn allow you to expand. Your industry is changing in the sense that you will increasingly provide care and instruction aimed at preventing the loss of teeth, rather than simply providing treatments such as fillings. Improvements in dental technology also will allow dentists to offer more effective and less painful treatment to their patients.
